A 2007survey by Internet data firm comScore found that 60% of consumers use the web as their first-line tool to search for local business, and 60% of those searchers go on to make a purchase from a local business.

A 2006 survey by AOL Henley Centre, a UK research firm, found that 73% of respondents listed search engines as important sources of information when considering a product or services- a higher percentage than personal recommendations, TV, or print media.

Accoriding to David Chaffey(2005) more than 50% internet users use search engine to find their search because they don't remember full URL of the site they want to visit, they search those sites through search engine such as google, yahoo, MSN ect with the help of key words. So, it is increasingly becoming important for any organisation to survive in virtual world.
